Everything started by putting a seed in the soil in the heart of the city. The corona lockdown in particular has shown us that the path towards nature is the right one, that we can eat healthy food ourselves and even share it. It is important for a person to have access to and the choice of an affordable, acceptable and healthy diet throughout his or her life. During the following days, we will work more about links between food poverty and health inequalities. The collective work done in the garden by an international group already inspired a substantial constructive change and resistance in Wuppertal. We have already accomplished to set up half of the garden. Zucchini, lettuce, rocket, tomatoes onions, aubergines, cucumbers, peas, beans, pumpkins are growing. Last week for the first time a Syrian friend visited us and said he normally doesn’t have too many friends in Wuppertal but in this peace garden he found a space where he can share his soil knowledge and experience about his hometown. On the other hand, we are still working to find a creative idea how to convert the dilapidated stairs into a peace path for the garden. These eco-friendly Peace Stairs will be ready until the end of year. Thanks for being with us.
